Nepal crushed fellow debutants Hong Kong in the Qualifying Group A Match of the ICC World T20 2014 in Chittagong by 80 runs. Asked to bat first, Nepal worked hard to reach a modest total of 149 for 8.
Gyanendra Malla top scored for Nepal with 48 from 41 balls while Captain Paras Khadka scoring 41 from 37 balls. For Hong Kong, opening bowler Haseeb Amjad took 3 for 25.
Hong Kong were no match to Nepal with the bat and their troubles started with the loss of a wicket in the very first ball. Left-arm spinners of Nepal – Basant Regmi and Shakti Gauchan ran through the Hong Kong batting taking three wickets each.
Hong Kong were bundled out for just 69 in 17 overs.
